A project completed during the Kairos Futura residency. The first part was a series of paper-cut illustrations depicting the story of a forest spirit who becomes enraged when humans cut down trees, leading to a curse that transforms the arthropods of the forest into giants to protect it.

Expanding on this mythology, I wrote and illustrated a book that captures my expedition to the Ngong Road Forest in the year 2299. Presented in a diary format, the 32 page book delves into my personal diary entries, complemented by illustrations depicting the diverse range of arthropods I encountered throughout my exploration of the forest.

The entire project was inspired by the Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary and the pressing threats to its continued existence as Nairobi’s largest urban forest.
